Canda's Colors by blayrd Canda's Colors by blayrd
Here's proof that studies are good for you: I was okay on the sky and mountains but completely baffled when it came to painting trees and water.

This one's inspired from Colorado scenery, after a friend made a quick sketch when trying out my tablet! You can see that here: [link]

Fantastic and inspiring! I do love to see a bit of Canada here in deviant land. (Though I will offer a tiny note to say one can see you have the most practice in painting/drawing the legs of a more canine sort! Apologies, I can't help it.. I have an ecology background :p ) It's still a favourite for certain!

Sorry to disappoint... that's Colorado-esque scenery! The girl who did the drawing that this's based off of is named Canda xD

You've got me there! Didn't help that it was referenced off a little plastic model on site, so it's got the stiff plasticky look to boot. But yeah, need to improve my ungulate/general animal anatomy f'sure! -adds to things-to-work-on list-

Ha ha, well, we do share those lovely rocky mountains! It very well could be a scene from Canada. Same flora and fauna too! It's one of those things.. Brokeback Mountain increased tourism to Wyoming and was mostly filmed in Alberta. Bruhaha.

Heh, that's pretty amusing - didn't know that one xD Mmm generic scenery, artist's occasional best friend.

This actually made my jaw drop. You've gotten -so- good! I've always found scenery hard to do, so I really admire the patience and skill that obviously went into this. Keep drawing everyday, it's so encouraging seeing your growth ;_; ...

I find scenery really difficult too, there were so many times in this painting that I just sat there and stared and went "I don't know how to do this". I'm trying to make this type of rendering into a project for school, in which case there would be a series of landscapey things... we'll see how that goes. I'm trying to draw everyday, or every other, but it's so difficult lately ):

I'd say you're doing a really great job of drawing regularly though! And I just see you pushing yourself so much to improve lately... it's inspiring!! I'd never have the patience to render stuff like you do, but it's just awesome how you've come from drawing cartoon wolves, and seem to have found your niche in realistic digital painting. (^^)

Last term that was sort of mandated by class... let's see if I can push myself to continue! Yeah, I've ended up here via a lot of experimenting, have yet to figure out where exactly I'm heading - back then cartoon wolves were my safe place, for now I don't have one any more so it's a bit unsettling, kind of.

Pah, patience in rendering, what, I have no patience with lineart! I love smoothly inked and weighted lines but it's a thing to be appreciated from afar, I have not yet got this skill down at alllll D: So kudos to you for all them fluid lines :3
